I don’t really need to write too much of an intro other than A) Republicans are weird, B) Republicans love weirdos, and C) Republicans have blown many winnable races by nominating weirdos. So without further ado, here are the ten worst — and weirdest — Republican Senate candidates!

Ten: Christine O’Donnell (Delaware, 2010)

All you need to know about Christine O’Donnell is that like the title character of the 2017 film I Am Not a Witch, she is not a witch. But at least nobody joked about her having sex with a couch!

Nine: Jim Bunning (Kentucky, 2004)

Jim Bunning, who pitched a perfect game for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1964, went into politics after retiring from baseball, but unlike other career changers (see Reagan, Ronald) he did absolutely nothing of consequence. As a Senator, he barely spoke on any issues that weren’t related to baseball, and was so hated that he even made Time Magazine’s list of the worst Senators. Although it seemed…
